Intellectual property can refer to a number of things. When looking at broad definition, it can refer to any creative work of the mind for which an individual can receive exclusive rights under protection of the law. On a less generalized level, intellectual property (and intellectual property rights) can refer to the following specifics: copyrights, trademarks, patents, geographical indication, moral rights, utility models, indigenous intellectual property, industrial design work, database rights, plant breeders’ rights, and supplementary protection certificates. The three most important forms of intellectual property are copyright, patent, and trademark.
